After I got tired of it, to polish all the finishes by hand, I wondered, to build a polishing machine itself. This not only saves a lot of time and elbow grease, the surfaces shine professionally ;-)

I see two possibilities here. One is for "times from and to polish", the other for the frequent use. The latter consists of a 750W / 240V motor with 1280 U / min, a belt drive 1: 2, a double-mounted polishing shaft and two cotton polishing wheels. The speed can be described as "cozy". Better is double speed and correspondingly more power. Everything together is mounted on a board and provided with a switch. Of course, the safety regulations must be complied with (accident prevention, electrical safety, etc.)! In this polishing machine I use two slices per side. To get into the tight radii with electric guitars, I like to use a disc on the Borhmaschine. It also reaches a disc in width for very good results. Rotates the disc, it is indeed a bit wider.

One could of course build the disc itself and trim made of soft cotton cloth, which lasts very long - you need to about 250 discs - Depending on the thickness of the fabric and the disk of course - not really an alternative.

The polishing wheels itself it is essential to pay attention to quality! Not every polishing wheel is equally good - not everything that comes from overseas. This is partly due to the choice of materials and the construction. In my products find their professional discs, as they are also used in very large factories (approx 300mm diameter, 25mm width). Depending on the Drive you get the drill with adapter (01-013-0010 + 01-013-0020), 30mm (01-013-0011) or 19mm (3/4 ") hole (01-013-0010). With a cheap adapter (01-013-0021) can also be operated by drilling down to 12mm.

The device is intended for polishing high-gloss paints, previously sanded with water sandpaper (600,800,1000,1200). A widely used and very good polish for paint instrument is manufactured in Germany by the company Manzerna.

A slice is reserved for pre (01-013-0001 Polierpaste prepolishing (brown)), the other disk for final polishing (01-013-0003 Polierpaste gloss (light beige) and / or 01-013-0005 Polierpaste Superfine). At quite inaccessible places or Touch Up I also use the 01-013-0007 "Manzerna special polishing cream". After sanding is something of the polishing cream on a cotton ball and with a circular motion the bodies concerned are highly polished.

Just then I use the white, superfine polishing paste on the disc. These small scratches are acceptable and they can also be observed in brand new guitar.
