The project "Indie"

The project "Indie"

Recently I built another semi-acoustic guitar. Have you been baptized Indie as they are not legally in the frame "Blues - Heavy Jazz - - Modern" fits. They should be playable anywhere. This time, the model of the form was the classic Les Paul, which I had missed but my personal touch. Have now in the guitar and bass "my" shape seen'm just not the first to deal with this form. So, now the photo and then my objectives for the construction.

I wanted a rich tone, not for "vintage" but of course not too "modern, sterile" and with independent character. Also wanted the opportunity, sometimes with an orderly Distortion fully tubes and without splash. Suitable for the stage, it should be so far that even with fuller volume comes no feedback when you stand in front of it. A simple and manageable circuit in the "fat" - "medium-pressure" - "solo" immediately there is - just like on the Les Paul stop. However, I just wanted to have a volume and tone knob. Another treat I wanted a "Jammer hook". He should not respond as fast as the similar to the Strat that is, that only more change with greater lever movements the tone - do not need any "dive-bombs". That reminds me of the "Duesenberg super Tremula" went on the way, exactly the quality I was looking for! In the table below are the different "ingredients".

The first guitar of this kind was indeed the red, now some time has passed, of course. What I meant in the way that I by further experience the design and the construction process optimized had imagined by special selection of wood and pickups a sound image, which it will reach the end if was not exceeded. The "red" had its own, I find appealing and distinctive design. What brought me back to the form of the "Paula", was among others the trouble to make an expensive Spezialkofer for my special external shape - the Indie fits into any standard case!

And how she sounded as if she was ready? The light wood construction (2,7 kg complete), it has a strong percussive and fast tone response. If you play it non-reinforced, you can hear a fine tone distribution and just feel the long sustain. Increasingly she is just in the center position of the toggle switch clear transparency, warmth and assertiveness of it but not lacking in nuance-richness. On the neck it generates the smacking twang of an old LP P90 while tired at the dock of the HFS brings pressure and never starts to become mushy or even somewhere loses power. There is also still plenty of "ground" there, the almost 4.5 kg Mahogany comes about when the LP and then reminded of the suffering of Jesus at the age - (;-))

I am a bit proud of the result. When I play this guitar, I would like to no longer put it down. If I have "want to have" someone now appetite for made, which may indeed like to get in touch with me.

The piece is structured as follows:

Blanket: Maple solid 19mm

The Body Construction

As I write the construction of this guitar, as a follow-products compared to the red guitar, I do not use very many words to describe the individual work steps, which I had already described there in detail. But I am happy to reply to a specific question, which, moreover, still arise.

"Indie" Gitarre Finishing

Since I have several descriptions of the painting of guitars on my website, I'm no longer here in detail the preparation and implementation. But what I would like to introduce here is that in the following figure apparent Sunburst.

The finished instrument

For this project I have, because it is already pretty much elsewhere my homepage, dispense with the documentation of the neck and fingerboard production.
